News: A Week in the Life

Hello All!
In this brief post I hope to convey a snap shot of what one week is like here at Buffalo ReUse!
Despite torrential down pores last week, our pioneer deconstruction crew is soon to complete their first deconstruction project on the west side of Buffalo. This project was primarily a training project, but we will be inviting folks to join us in the future. We’re salvaging tons of lumber, stone, and materials, all of which are available at our store downtown.
This Saturday, October 6th, beginning at 10 a.m., Buffalo ReUse will be teaming up with the Queen City Farm and 50 Women with a Vision to work for stronger neighborhoods and we need your help. We’ll be heading to the future home of the farm, 194 East Utica and assisting the gang in boarding up and securing their base camp for the winter. We’ll be painting, beautifying, and boarding. Bring your artistic and kinesthetic talents and lend a hand. Murals and board ups, a great way to start the weekend.
Then at 1 p.m. we’ll take a stroll down Utica and help “50 Women with a Vision” kick-off their exciting new Cultural Art Park. Their vision is to create an outdoor cultural museum that celebrates cultural diversity and they need help erecting their sign to increase their visibility in the community. The park is going to be located on the corner of Jefferson and Woodlawn, anyone with a vision is welcome to join us.
For both events just bring yourself and maybe some sturdy shoes, we’ll take care of the rest!
Then finally, on Sunday, we’ll be back at the ReUse Store, 459 Ellicott Street, from 10 – 4 p.m. We always need volunteers on Sunday’s to help process materials and organize the space. You’re always welcome!!! Stop by and say hi, and tell your friends that we’ve got cool things for sale.
So there you have it, COMMUNITY, JOBS, and RESOURCES, all crammed into one action packed week. We hope you’ll join us!
Two more things, keep checking this blog! New things pop up there all the time…exciting ways to contribute, interesting tid bits, humorous accounts of warehouse fun. http://www.buffaloreuse.wnymedia.net/. AND become our friend on MySpace… http://www.myspace.com/buffaloreuse.
More news later in the week, including your special invitation to our exciting Re-ART event…stay tuned!
Onward! – Michael Gainer
