Lending a Hand
from: Joanna Gillespie
The greenhouse was donated to Urban Roots Community Garden Center by Dr. Robert & Mrs. Sheri Miller of Grand Island. Avid gardeners, the Millers have used this lean-to, curved eave style greenhouse year-round for several decades to grow tomatoes from seed, and to cultivate orchids, geraniums and other plants and vegetables. The donation includes custom-designed tables, as well as miscellaneous related supplies. An Urban Roots volunteer crew disassembled the at the Grand Island home, and Buffalo ReUse helped to relocate the structure to Buffalo until it can be reassembled on the Urban Roots lot in the spring of 2008.Buffalo ReUse is looking for individuals interested in designing greenhouses or cold frames from reused materials–like all those windows we have!!!p.s. check out Urban Roots for LIVE TREES this holiday season!!
